WHAT IS BHRT?

With Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy we use hormones that are identical to those that the body produces for itself. When we are "replacing" the body's hormones, it makes more sense to use entities which the body recognizes as its own, rather than hormones from animals, imbalanced versions or overly potent synthetic versions which can increase risk for chronic disease and cancer.

WHAT IS HYDROCOLONTHERAPY?

Colon hydrotherapy is clean and relaxing. A soothing flow of warm water is instilled gently into the colon through a nozzle (rectal tube) inserted into the rectum to cleanse (evacuate) the contents of the lower colon. The system is designed to allow evacuation of the contents of the colon during the administration of the colonic irrigation. The pressure, temperature, and flow of water can all be regulated throughout the session.

WHAT IS BOTOX?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. It is a nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily reduce moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people 18 to 65 years of age. During treatment, very low doses of BOTOX® Cosmetic are administered via a few tiny injections directly into the muscles that cause those stubborn lines. The treatment is usually done in about 10 minutes, and no recovery time is needed.

WHAT IS A DERMAL FILLER?

Several classes of dermal fillers are marketed in the United States today. They include: collagen based fillers (i.e. Zyplast and Cosmoderm), hyaluronic acid based fillers (i.e. Restylane and Hylaform), and calcium hydroxyl apatite fillers such as Radiesse. Moreover, promising dermal fillers are in development that will offer superior capabilities in the future.

The ideal dermal filler should be easy to administer, provide reproducible cosmetic results, remain in the dermis for a significant period of time, and have a superior safety profile. Injection of fillers usually requires the use of either a topical numbing cream or a local injection of numbing medication.

WHAT IS BIOFEEDBACK?

Biofeedback is a treatment technique in which people are trained to improve their health by using signals from their own bodies. Biofeedback practitioners use it to help tense and anxious clients learn to relax. Specialists in many different fields use biofeedback to help their patients cope with pain.

WHAT IS AN ELECTRODIAGNOSTIC STUDY?

Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) studies are ordered to evaluate for injury or disease of muscle, nerve roots, and peripheral nerves. They test the condition of the nerves from the spine, face, and extremities, including the foot and hand. These studies are normally done together and are usually performed as a workup for complaints of pain, weakness, numbness, or tingling.

WHAT IS SUBOXONE?

Suboxone™ is the first narcotic drug available for prescription from a doctor's office for use in the treatment of opioid dependence under the Drug Addition Treatment Act of 2000 or DATA 2000.

The primary active ingredient in Suboxone is Buprenorphine, which itself is a partial opioid agonist. This means the the opioid effects and withdrawal symptoms from Buprenorphine are less than other full opioid agonists such as heroin, methadone, morphine, oxycodone, hydrocodone, codeine, and others.
